Clean Your Keycaps Upgrade Priority
The full buy order from first sponge to first rebirth — and what changes after.
Knowing individual tier lists helps, but Clean Your Keycaps runs on one shared wallet. Every dollar spent on soap is a dollar not spent on sponges, workers, or your first rebirth multiplier from 2 da moon! This page orders the entire economy into phases so you always know the next best purchase — not just the next shiny row in the shop.
Use it together with the Sponge Tier List and Soap Tier List. Those pages rank tools inside each category; this page ranks categories against each other across early, mid, and late progression. Assumptions match the official loop: scrub, rinse, polish, place keycaps for cash, upgrade tools, hire help, rebirth, repeat.
Priority principles
Three rules cover most decisions before endgame:
- Fix the slowest step in the wash loop. If scrubbing dominates, sponges beat soap. If rinse or polish dominates, soap beats sponges. Timer tests beat guesswork.
- Never stall plot income. Clean keycaps only pay when placed and sold. Upgrades that delay finishing a sellable batch are lower priority than upgrades that finish batches faster.
- Rebirth is a multiplier, not an escape hatch. Rebirthing with weak tools means rebuilding from a slightly higher baseline still feels slow. Rebirthing with strong tools and at least one worker wave feels like a real reset.
Early game priority (first 20–30 minutes)
Priority 1 — Next sponge tier (S). Scrub speed gates the whole experience. Buy the next affordable sponge until scrub time stops being the majority of each batch. Details in the Sponge Tier List.
Priority 2 — First soap tier when rinse/polish lag (S/A). After roughly two sponge jumps, run a timed wash. If rinse or polish is slowest, buy the first meaningful soap tier. Otherwise stay on sponges.
Priority 3 — Complete and sell batches (S). Tutorial rewards and first plot placements fund everything. Do not idle in the shop while dirty keycaps stack up. How to Play covers the full loop if you skipped steps.
Priority 4 — Alternate sponge and soap by bottleneck (A). Once both systems have a baseline tier, responsive alternation beats rigid patterns. Slowest step wins each purchase.
Priority 5 — Ignore cosmetics and unverified codes (D). Active Codes lists zero confirmed promos at last review. Do not delay real upgrades waiting for fake code strings.
Mid game priority (workers unlocked)
Priority 1 — Workers when wash speed supports them (A/S). Workers multiply output only if batches finish fast enough to feed the plot. Hire the first worker when you can afford it and still buy tool tiers within the next few sales. If the choice is last mid-tier sponge or first worker, sponge usually wins; if sponges are mid-band and income is stable, worker jumps to S-tier.
Priority 2 — Tool tiers that workers inherit (S). Automation scales off your sponge and soap levels. Letting tools fall behind turns workers into expensive decorations.
Priority 3 — Plot throughput (A). Any upgrade that lets you place or sell more keycaps per minute — slot unlocks, carry speed, or batch size if the game offers them — competes with tools here. Pick whichever raises hourly cash more on a short test run.
Priority 4 — Second worker wave (B/A). Additional workers help when one worker is consistently idle waiting for batches. Idle workers signal you need faster washing, not more workers yet.
Priority 5 — Game passes after verifying stats (B). See Game Passes Worth It?. Only after you confirm a pass affects scrub, rinse, or income in the live store.
Late game and rebirth priority
Priority 1 — Rebirth when multiplier beats next tool (S). Open the rebirth menu and compare the multiplier gain against the cost and speed gain of your next sponge or soap. If rebirth pays back in fewer than two focused grind sessions, it is S-tier. If not, one more tool band first.
Priority 2 — Balanced tool bands pre-rebirth (A). Enter rebirth with sponges and soap within one tier of each other. Lopsided builds rebuild unevenly after reset.
Priority 3 — Worker tiers tied to rebirth rewards (A). Some rebirth tracks boost worker efficiency. If the current patch ties rewards to workers, align hiring with rebirth prep using Latest Update Notes as reference.
Priority 4 — Luxury tiers and flex purchases (C). Max cosmetic rows, optional skins, or the final tool tier minutes before rebirth can wait.
Priority 5 — Scripts for automation (risk). Auto Farm Script documents a third-party loader with feature toggles. Using scripts can violate Roblox Terms of Service and risk moderation action — treat as optional and off-priority for fair progression.
Phase summary table
| Phase | Focus first | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Sponges, first sales | Soap too early |
| Tool mid-band | Bottleneck-based alternation | Hoarding cash |
| Automation | Workers + tool sync | Idle workers |
| Pre-rebirth | Multiplier math | Max tier vanity |
| Post-rebirth | Rebuy tools, restore workers | Skipping soap chain |
Rebirth checklist
Before you confirm rebirth, tick mentally:
- Scrub, rinse, and polish each take a minority of total batch time or you accept a slow rebuild.
- At least one worker is active more than idle, or you deliberately solo rebirth for challenge.
- Next rebirth multiplier is understood — read the menu text; we do not invent numeric bonuses here.
- You saved optional checklist notes on Progress Checklist if tracking milestones across sessions.
After rebirth, priority resets to early-game sponge and soap chains on a higher income curve — then workers return to A-tier once tools stabilize.
Planning tools
Spreadsheet players and casual grinders both benefit from external planning:
- Upgrade Planner — interactive milestone map for sponge, soap, and rebirth targets.
- Progress Checklist — session goals so you do not rebirth early by accident.
When priority shifts
[UPD] patches from 2 da moon! can rebalance worker costs, rebirth curves, or soap scaling. After any title change:
- Read Latest Update Notes.
- Run one timed batch and one income-per-minute estimate.
- Adjust worker vs tool priority if automation behavior changed.
Incremental games reward adaptability. These priorities describe durable strategy — not a frozen patch note.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Clean Your Keycaps players.
What is the best upgrade order in Clean Your Keycaps?
Sponges first until scrub is fast, then soap when rinse or polish lag, then workers when tools can feed automation, then rebirth when multipliers beat the next tool purchase.
Should I rebirth before max upgrades?
Usually no. Rebirth when the multiplier gain outpaces one more sponge or soap tier in time saved. Enter rebirth with balanced tools and at least basic worker support.
Workers or sponge upgrade — which first?
Sponge if scrubbing is still your longest step or you cannot afford both. Worker if tools are mid-band and income is stable enough to hire without stopping tool growth.
Do game passes change this priority list?
Verified speed or income passes can bump their category up a tier. Unconfirmed passes do not change free-to-play priority — check the Game Passes page before spending Robux.
